Book Loot

My husband and I recently traveled to the U.S. to spend the holidays with our adult sons.  It was a very quick trip and luggage space was limited.  But I managed to make a lightning fast stop at our storage unit to grab a few books.  I like to pretend that the DVDs are a gift for my husband's upcoming birthday, but I bought them thinking mostly of myself.

The books are:

NIV Study Bible - Because our internet service is so-so and sometimes I need a little help preparing my weekly Bible studies.
The Righteous - Non-Jews who helped Jews during WWII
In This House of Brede - One of Godden's most famous books (which I've never read)
Two Dorothy Sayers novels
Comrades by Stephen Ambrose
Inductive Bible study on I and II Peter
Mornings on Horseback by David McCullough (Forgive me, Carol, for not having read him before.)
Grand Opening by Jon Hassler (of Agatha McGee fame)

Can't wait to dig into these this year.

That's a nice collection! In This House of Brede is wonderful, and Lord Peter is always a special treat (for me, at least)!

I wrote a long comment yesterday and promptly lost it!

I'm SO DELIGHTED you were able to snatch some morsels from your stash. I'm in a culling mode right now, and I can't tell you how many times I think of you and the book limitations you routinely face. It inspires me.

I have House of Brede, unread, on my shelf. I find the author's name (gender?) so unusual. I've never heard of another person named Rumer.

I don't believe you can go wrong reading Dorothy Sayers. I'll be eager to hear your response.

I listened to Comrades a few years back and really enjoyed it. Male friendship is not written about often enough, I think.

Hope, I have a few McCullough titles I've not yet read. I hoard them like nuggets of gold. I plan to read his book on the Brooklyn Bridge this year.

I'm grateful that you put Jon Hassler on my map. Grand Opening looks good!

But I've been holding a scream of joy in and now I will let it out: J'adore DCS Foyle. Honestly, I had a crush on him for a few months. I love the opening music, the cinematography is excellent, and the stories absorbing. ENJOY!
